| Coastal Scents 88 Mirage Palette |
Result: The word "Mirage" is French and means "to look at or to wonder at". The
Coastal Scents 88 Mirage Palette was launched in February 2011. The
palette since then has not been a lot in the lime light but it is a
successful CS product. The only reason it is not well known, perhaps, is
the success ratio of other Coastal Scents 88 palettes, especially, the
88 warm and shimmer palette. But when i was shopping for a palette for
myself I wanted something that suits my complexion and different
textures.
The
packaging is good, like all other CS products. The kit comes in a stiff
card box with a plain black kit inside. The kit is secured in a sheer
plastic covering. It is the size of a netbook and looks like a
professional salon makeup kit. There's a mirror at the center of the lid
and two eye shadow applicators, but I wouldn't use the applicators as
they are not good quality. There's a sheet of hard plastic protective
filter as well, placed over the eye shadows. Remove the filter and it
unveils 88 eye shadows all in different formulations.
There are matte, shimmer, glitter and satin textured eye shadows. The great thing about this palette is that a lot of the shadows come
from other CS palettes. There a lot of neutrals from the warm palette, a
lot of blues, greens and oranges. You will not find bright yellows,
pinks or other colors like that. This kit is all earthy tones.
Why I particularly chose the Mirage palette is because, the colors
go perfectly with my skin tone. As I have a medium complexion, bright
striking colors don't really suit me. The colors are very beautiful, my favorite is the mermaid bluish
shade from the right. The application is smooth, they blend well, the
texture is lovely and all the shadows produce color.
The only issue I have is with the quantity. The pans are the size of
an American dime, 61 grams in total and if you you play with makeup very often, you will
soon run out of content from the palette.

Conclusion: This
palette is perfect for those who love earthy tones and are medium or
slightly tanned complexion. I would use every shade in this palette.
Great for party and wedding makeup. I highly recommend the Mirage
palette over all others from the CS 88 line.
