Tarte Pure Delights LipSurgence Lip Set-Review, Photos, Swatches

Company/Brand Claim: A hybrid between a stain, a gloss and a rich balm. LipSurgence™ lip tint delivers nondrying, sheer color while keeping lips hydrated and refreshed. Our award-winning tint is goofproof—it goes on like a lip gloss, stays on like a stain and hydrates like a dreamy balm.

For Skin Type: All

Packaging: Thick twist up colored matte and glossy pencils.

Product Coverage: Sheer

Formulation: Matte and Glossy

Texture and Feel: The matte ones wear on dry and take a bit of effort but the glossy ones are moisturizing.

Colors:

Mattes: Generous: A deep nude, Destined: Deep berry pink, Glee: Candy pink, Cheerful: Deep nude pink.

Glossy: Grateful: Basic nude, Lovely: Sheer sorbet pink, Believe: Light fuchsia, Enamored: Sheer sorbet red.

Fragrance: Minty

Application: Can be applied like a regular lip tint and you can build up color by applying more.

Result: First of all I love the packaging and the colors. They come in a printed cardboard box which makes a perfect present for someone special (especially Valentines Day). Doesn't matter what skin tone you are, there's a shade that is exactly made for you. Colors range from nudes to pinks and a red too, which in my opinion is a treat. The mattes however are drying, when applied and after they set, they enhance fine lines and dehydrate the lips. As much as I love the colors, my extra dry lips literally need a chap stick underneath. If you do not have naturally dry lips, then there's nothing to worry about.
As for the glossy ones, they are rather sheer but very moisturizing but do not stay on for long. They'll transfer onto glass and food easily. All colors are wearable for everyday and casual events. If you're looking for longer stay then opt in for a lipstick as tints will neither offer enough coverage or longevity.

Staying Power: 2-3 hours

Times Tested: Each worn 3-4 times

Cons: Expensive

Anything Else: Only available through custom order.

Made In: USA

  4. I love how honest your review is - thank you - I ran into your blog by chance and because of your honesty I will come back! Like you, my lips are normally dry and I need Vaseline on them 24/7...as much as I like the colors, when I put these on they show every crack and line in my lips and after a few hours my lips become even drier...like you said, may not be a problem for someone with naturally dewy lips but many would find them drying. (BTW you have beautiful lips!)

    1. Thank you Ginan :). I'm glad you found my post helpful. I didn't expect them to dry my lips that bad. I'm going to be careful with mattes now. Thank you for the compliment :)
